Happiness Came Barefoot

blog feet grass

Happiness came barefoot,

dancing through the summer grass,

which did not break

but flowed and whispered in her wake.

While I unsure, unseen,

stood planted there, trying

not to make a move—

Certain I’d disturb her groove.

She breezed on by,

I froze in fear: The

irony was far from lost,

But I’d learned happiness had a cost.
